About Us
Carousel Child Care Center has been a trusted part of the Anchorage community since 1968. Located at 6370 Debarr Road, we are licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage Health Department Child Care Licensing Program for up to 115 children ages 12 months through 12 years.
Carousel is owned and led by Theresa Robertson, who brings nearly 50 years of experience in early childhood education to this work. Day-to-day operations are managed by Sean Shawcross, Associate Administrator, who oversees staffing, compliance, curriculum, and family partnerships. Together, they lead a team committed to providing the highest quality care for every child and family at Carousel.
We are a Thread Learn & Grow Level 2 program actively working toward Level 3, and we implement the Pyramid Model for Social Emotional Learning in every classroom. Our curriculum is aligned with the Alaska Early Learning Guidelines. All teachers complete required background checks, hold current CPR and First Aid certification, and participate in ongoing professional development throughout the year.
We believe children learn best when they feel safe, connected, and free to explore. Every child at Carousel is known by name, supported as an individual, and given every opportunity to grow.
